As we are in the “digital era”, the ancient concepts of beauty, proportions, etc. are constantly changing as fast as technology keeps evolving. “Beauty” at our time may mean how nature can be represented on digital concepts. It already exists on our life, but it can be re-interpreted, and modified with almost no limits.
As we still discover now some ancient sculptures from 2,000 years ago, we can appreciate the “canon” of beauty of several ages through the history. Nowadays, we are immersed in the three-dimensional virtual reality experiences and as a consequence, the Arts are getting enriched by new languages and formats. And that’s how XXI Century Fragment could be our legacy for future generations. A 3D designed sculpture, composed by more than 500 polygons laser cut in iron but still assembled by a sculptor, showing the welding lines as a part of the creation process, the imperfection and beauty of human beings.
Daniel Pérez sculptures are always related with the representation of fragments of the human face. Increasing the scale of these recognizable fragments, the artist wants to create an impressive atmosphere for the viewer, who receives the shocking information and self-completes it by using his or her own memories and thoughts.
